Do Gel nails NEED a UV light to cure?
I’m looking to buy a Gel nail kit, and was wondering if you NEED a UV light for them to cure?
Will they dry on their own if you let them set for so long, or if I put them under a regular lamp?
With traditional UV gels, you do need a UV lamp. There are no light gels available but the quality of the gels themselves is very poor. I would be careful about messing around with UV gels if you aren’t properly trained and licensed. I know that isn’t what you want to hear, but be aware that once the gels have cured, the only way to remove them is to file them off. They are not soak off products like acrylics are. You can ruin your natural nails very easily if you don’t know what you are doing. Then, there is the risk of overexposure which can cause contact dermatitis over time, but that’s another topic in itself. My personal opinion? Let a licensed professional do your nails. It is not as easy to do as it looks.
