is it possible to become infected with hiv from a tattoo if a new needle was used?
I got an unprofessional tattoo a while ago and i know he changed the needle. he also tattooed a girl 3 weeks prior to me. I don’t know if he cleaned the ink tube. Look, please don’t lecture me on why it was a bad idea, I KNOW it was a bad idea, and I regret it like you have no idea. Please help me. I’m getting tested, but i want to know if you think I’ve been infected.
I jjust read on the CDC’s website that no one has ever gotten HIV from a tattoo. Does this mean I shouldn’t worry?
Relax, don’t worry too much. You chances of contacting HIV are very very slim because the virus does not survive very long without a host. Your main concern should be other diseases like hepatitis etc. Just make sure that you get a tattoo from someone using an autoclave the next time around. Cleaning the ink tubes does not make them safe, they need to be autoclaved. I have heard of some people using microwave ovens, ultraviolet sterilizers, bread toasters etc to sterilize ink tubes, but just take note that these things are inadequate. Just wait to get yourself tested to ease your mind.
