Hot Tools is a spring iron that everyday people can work with easily! A Marcel iron is controlled not by a spring but by your own technique… It is a long rod handle and very hard to work with for most! Professional stylists like to use this because they can control the curl and avoid kinks! ex: when you want to open the jaws of the iron you have to pull up on the rod and down to close… There is no plastic tip at the top of the rod to hold onto in the process! If your not a stylist Id recommend a spring iron to avoid complications and burning! Trust me Im a licensed stylist and it took me awhile to be able to function a marcel iron adequatley!
